Accessibility statement for ROS Lite
This accessibility statement applies to content published on the ros.dft.gov.uk sub-domain. It does not apply to content on www.gov.uk or dft.gov.uk sub-domains.
This website is run by the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) Unit. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- Modal Dialog boxes do not work smoothly with keyboard navigation. There is an accessible version of the 'view and reconcile volumes' page which does not use modals and will work smoothly with keyboard navigation.
- The "You are about to submit volumes" page does not provide a logical reading order or navigation sequence for screen readers and keyboard navigation.
- There are limited ways to navigate the website.
- Obligation period dropdowns open automatically when navigating with a keyboard.
- The X button on dropdowns is announced as "clickable" by screen readers, without clearly describing its purpose or function.
- Headings and labels are not fully accessible, as screen readers do not announce units of measurement after input boxes.

Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non compliance with the accessibility regulations
- The focus order on modal dialog boxes does not return the user to the last focused upon component when exiting the modal. This fails WCAG 2.4 success criterion 2.4.3 (focus order).
- The "You are about to submit volumes" page does not provide a logical reading order or navigation sequence, which may make it difficult for assistive technology users to understand. This relates to WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.2 (Meaningful Sequence).
- There are limited ways to navigate the website, which could make finding content more difficult for some users. This is associated with WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.5 (Multiple Ways).
- Obligation period dropdowns open automatically when navigating with a keyboard, which might confuse users expecting them to open only on selection. This corresponds to WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.2.2 (On Input).
- The X button on dropdowns is announced as "clickable" by screen readers, without clearly describing its purpose or function. This relates to WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value).
- Headings and labels do not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels), as screen readers do not announce units of measurement after input boxes. This may cause confusion for users relying on assistive technology to understand the required input.
The above issues will be rectified in post-live iterations and should be completed by January 2026.
What we're doing to improve accessibility
We plan to continue to identify accessibility issues by further testing the website with a range of users with access needs.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 17th January 2025.
This website was last tested on 17th January 2025 and was carried out by Triad Group Plc who used a mixed methods approach of moderated usability testing with users with a range of accessibility needs and an accessibility audit.
Moderated accessibility testing, an accessibility audit, and testing using several of the most common assistive technology tools were conducted across all pages within the website.
